Hey All!!
To those of you who said "we will watch your site!" I am truely sorry... i forgot the password and had this major avoidance thing happening, where I really didnt want to sit down and try work out what the password was. Turns out it wasn't that hard, so here we are again! Ready to give you an up date of our adventure. Currently in its 2nd and a half month... or there abouts. You see it's hard when your travelling. No need for the time becuase we done have anywhere to be, at any certain time and on any certain date. So how ever long we have been gone for, we haven't run out of money, died or been majorly injured... thanks for your prayers!
We are currently in Numbucca Heads. Close to an hour before Coffs Harbour. It's a really nice place. Not that we have seen heaps, we finnaly stopped at a caravan park. Really needed a shower and to recharge the battery before the food in our fridge went rank - not nice.
A few days ago, 3 to be exact, Mark and I made a packt. We were going to surf everyday. On the 3rd day we agreed to go out at South West Rocks. This crazy little wave rocks on one side and then about 100m down the beach, more rocks. Mark declared the easiest way to get out to the surf was via - the rocks.
So down to the rocks, surf board under arm, with a small audience gathering, we went! Mark was the test dummy. He stood on the rocks for what seemed eternity, nearly getting bowled over by waves and then was out and in safety zone. I almost walked off, decided against the crazy jump off rocks idea, walked around... you know the sane thing to do. However, Mark made it... so can I. Well... i didn't make it.
Completely underestimating everything, I jumped. Survived with scraps all down my leg, elbow and even left a nice chunk of my toe on those stupid rocks. The same toe was later wrapped around by the surf board leash, I struggled under water trying to get it off before it ripped my toe right off my foot. You should see the bruising! Mark gave me a small hand of "sympathy" with a big smirk on his face. Which later he regretted because one wave sent him and his board flying in the air... and the surf board landed on the side of his foot. Today he hasn't been able to walk. I remminded him he had to hands, so don't worry, he made me lunch today : D
Anyways, crazyness aside. For those who haven't herd the low down....
We left about mid Janurary from Mallacoota and headed up the coast. Had the most amazing surf in Merimbula then headed inland towards Mt Kosciuszko. We rode the bikes 8km up the giant hill to the top of Australia , which took 3 hours. Took photos and then flew the same 8km down the hill in a nice half hour.... hardly worth the effort!! I couldn't believe the fly down.
After that we located work in Forbes... about a 6 hour drive from where we were, basically majorly out of our way. Forbes was fruit picking 9 hours a day, 6.30am - 4pm. Grueling work when you haven't worked for close to 3 months.
On the 9th day in a row, i woke up, went to the loo. Came back to the car and climed into bed. Mark was all dressed and ready to go but i refused to get out of bed. Couldn't do it! No way. I was tired, mozzie ridden and had enough of picking plums, nectarines and peaches. I was picking those things in my sleep! Not to mention it had been 47 degrees the day before and we where sleeping in a non air vented car. We did one more day and Bruce... the old farmer man, a tough nut he was, said he only had a few days to go. That was my cue! We were outta there.
We headed through Canberra and stopped in Cooma where we decided to go to church. The night before we sleep in a small grass area between the bowls club and a retirement village - it was kinnda weird. Cooma was an amazing church. Everyone new everyone, supported everyone. The sign out the front read "10am Service, Follwed by a Train Ride." Yup, i thought the same thing, Train Ride???? They actually went on a train ride and had a picnic, we declined the many many offers, just to desperate for the beach. The service was also about a Journey - how fitting! One guy gave us money for lunch and told us about this amazing pie place. The amazing lunch money was the greatest. We were also giving a zuchini, which was about as big as Arnold Schwosongers (cant spell his last name!) arm. Seriouse, the squash was also as big! We had vegies for 3 nights! I made this amazing squash and zuchini stew, i cant remmember what i put in it. An old lady also gave us home made jam... yummm!!
After that we headed towards Tathra, were i caught a few nice big fish! We then worked our way up the coast.... Bermagui, Narooma. In Narooma we stayed with Trev and Lauren and went prawing and fishing. I got biten by miggies, crazy little bugs you cant see. The bites they leave get bigger when you scratch them. They were giving my nightmares! So in Batemans Bay I went to the chemist and accidentally asked for Amphetamines... not realising id said the wrong thing. The guy, and everyone in ear shot, laughed like crazy and told me id have to stand on the street near the phonebooth to get that. Then I remmebered, I was meant to ask for Antihestamine. Whatever he gave me, it worked, i wasnt itchy that night.
We stayed in Jervis Bay and Gerringong in the car parks. It rained everyday for close to a week. I was getting really fed up with the rain when we went to Kangaroo Valley. Mark and I were also getting really cranky at each other. Thats was being cooped up in a Land Crusier on a rainy day for a week does to you... makes you cranky and short fused.
So when a cute couple, Ron and Elaine, offered us a room at there house after church in Kangaroo Valley, I jumped to the idea! We stayed with them for 2 nights and got along really well. Kangaroo Valley is soooo beautiful and you can camp for free by the river just outside the valley, there's an awsome swing at the lake a walk from the camp site. If you want to go camping somewhere cool and different, not near a beach.... GO THERE! Its just so beautiful. Just watch out for the wombats, they walk throughout the camp site at night, thats even more a reason to go there!!! If you go there, go to the church... seriously you will fall in love with that place.
Ron and Elaine offered us there camping time at a caravan park in Tuncurry. So once we left there beautiful little cottage, with more jam and goodies, we headed towards Sydney to catch up with Marks mates and go for a surf.
After Syndey we did the Blue Mountains and decided to do this bike ride/hike - The 6 foot track from Jenolan Caves. We attached all our gear to the bikes and I went to the Information Centre to ask the lady about the 40km hike we decided we were going to do over 3 days, bikes should get us going so much quicker. Anyway, the lady in information laughed at me! I asked her if it was possible and had no idea what to make of her response .. "ohh I've never herd of anyone doing that before!"
So off we went and soon realized how stupidly crazy we were! We dragged our bikes 8km up this stupid track which we later realised bikes were not meant to go along. Then we rode our bikes a nice 15km massive down hill. Once we got to the bottom we decided to start heading back the next day, it took us 2 days to get back to Jenolan, half a days walk up a hill! Nice HIKE - i dont suggest you ride it! The ride made Mt Kosciuszko feel like a training ride!
We then went to Stockton Dunes. So Mark could thrash the car around. Which he did.
On one occasion Trev said to Mark, via the radio, "maybe we should head down to the beach and come back via this way because there are some big drop offs here that are hard to see." Just as Mark was about to say "Will be right!" He flew over this dune, cleared air, and hit the ground so hard that the whole roof rack flew forward! We had to winch the roof rack to Trev's car and hitch the roof rack back onto the car! Mark didnt do much jumping after that. He had cleared air a few times before that incident.
After Stockton we landed in Tuncurry, where we spent a week ridding ourselves of the sand that had filled our car on the Dunes. Tuncurry is beautiful but the mozzies are a killer, they were everywhere! You can ofter walk along the rocks and see Dolphines everywhere, in the entrance, and out the ocean. Was beautiful.
Tuncurry recharged our batteries and left us smelling fresh before we headed off along the coast... for another week without a shower! We surfed at this cool spot around Cresent Head. One morning the Dolphines came for a visit! This is about the time we made our packt to surf everyday. First day was good, second day was a little big for me and a little scary, i didnt catch a thing and Mark loved it. The next day was crazy messy surf which left me angry, that was at Hat Head. Then yesturday - our nice little rocks adventure.
Which brings us here. See your up to date... easy. Tommorow we might head to Valla Beach, maybe to Coffs Harbour. No idea really, the only thing we do know is that we need to get jobs soon. So we are going to start the job hunt up the coast!
Iv tried to up load a photo but it was taking forever! Make sure you check out some of our photos on Facebook! Mark has different ones to me too : D
Thanks for your prayers! God Bless!
